What makes a home? A space that has a real reflection expressed as authentic of the person or the family that lives there. It can be made by the objects that set up the decor in combination with the feelings of the company.

If you move to a new place, maybe in another country, bringing some objects that reminds you of the old home can transform the new location into a new home. It’s in the simple things. You don’t need lots of money to create a space that feels like home

She moved into a mill house. She cleaned and restored the building. Katrin wanted to keep the place as close to its origins as possible. The decor consists of most of the furniture that she designed along with some objects collected from around their trips. She created a space that gives her feelings of protection and freedom due to the location of the house.

Kim Baarda: Amsterdam, Netherlands

Kim thinks that replacing the objects with new ones which were collected over the year and can make a home homier.

To not have an ordinary home, but a unique home, she restores old furniture, adds splashes of colour or even plays with geometrical patterns.
