Why does Kanye call the house a ‘futuristic Belgian monastery’?

Kanye describes it as a story of probing and passion. He calls his house like that because of the size, minimalist style he used and the specific ceiling and hallway.

It’s suggested that the house, or ‘McMansion’, is radically different to those surrounding it. Why is this important to the couple?

The couple wanted something different, so they chose an extravagant design that can not be associated with something else from their neighbourhood.

Why do you think the house is all white? Why is it so minimal? Is this a contrast to other areas of their life?

I think that they wanted to be as simple as possible. Because in the outside world everything is chaotic, they created the space inside in contrast, a minimalistic space that feels the calmness that both of them need.

Is the house homely? What makes a home?

Their house looks like a gallery for some people, but for the couple maybe it is the definition of home. For me, a homely house can be defined by the personal objects that surround you in your house.

The designer, Vervoordt, says that he and Kanye have ‘common values in life’. Is interior design about someone’s values? Why could it be important to share someone’s values when designing their home?

I think that is very important to know a client's values because you have to do the design for the client and not for you. So, I think that this is a very big plus in this case that Vervoordt and Kanye are on the same page because they can design together, the house of their dreams.
